The objective of the present study was to characterize the knowledge and use of computational resources by nursing undergraduates of a public university. A quantitative study was conducted with 123 nursing students (45 in the 1 term of the course, 35 in the 5 term, and 43 in the 9 term). Data were processed using the software package Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), and Pearson’s chi-square test was applied with a significance level of p ≤ 0,05. Results showed that students considered that their knowledge on information technology informatics was basic and intermediary, that it was acquired mostly by self-teaching, and that it had not significantly improved during the course.
